Ricky Stuart: You must stand Down

At the 1st supporters forum held in the BlueFin Restaurant (which sucks by the way) in early 2009 a concerned supporter asked a question from the floor:

"How easy is it for a player at the Sharks to break their contract?"

He was clearly referring to mildly talented but somewhat inconsistent, "gentle" and rangy centre/back-rower Fraser (my friend Rocket called him Fwazer)Anderson who had been summarily sacked by Stuart (and rightly so in my opinion) because he had been made a very good offer from Japanese Rugby. Fraser had come to Stuart and said that he wanted to take this offer and despite his contract, how could it be accommodated? Despite being one of our better prospects at centre, a position that has plagued us since the departure of ET, Stuart let him go stating that if his heart wasn't in the Sharks, he'd find someone who was.

Stuart replied to the concerned supporter that:

"Its very easy to break a contract with me. All a player has to do come to me and ask. Because if he wants to break a contract, his heart isn't in the place and he should go."

A fair enough point.

Why then, now that Ricky Stuart has requested and been granted a release from his contract by the board does he want to see the year out? Clearly his heart isn't in the Sharks and now that his succeeder in Shane Flano has been named,he should follow his own advice and get out.

I like Stuart (get us another bourbon would ya?) and I feel he has done a very good job in unifying the club in incredibly difficult circumstances, but now considering he wants out, his atrocious record of win/loss (6 from farken 30) and these comments re Fwazer, I feel he should step aside and let Flano get on with the job.

  2. I dont want a shitty piece of purple paper. You keep that piece of paper and stick it to the back of the premium seat in front of you on Saturday night.
